Специальная лекция о Китае и Индии. Бранстеттер. Я являюсь доцентом экономики и государственной политики в Университете Карнеги-Меллон. И вопрос, который я хотел бы сегодня обсудить, таков: будут ли Индия и Китай доминировать в мировой экономике 21-го века?

Это вопрос, который, похоже, задают многие бизнес- и государственные лидеры Америки в наши дни. Экономика может дать ответ на этот вопрос, и ответ — условное «да». Китай почти наверняка станет экономикой больше США к середине 21-го века.

Special lecture of China and India. Branstetter. I’m an Associate Professor of Economics and Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon University. And the question I’d like to address today is this, will India and China dominate the 21st century global economy?

Now, this is a question that many of America’s business and government leaders seem to be asking these days. Economics has an answer to this question, and the answer is a qualified yes. China will almost certainly be a larger economy than the United States by the middle of the 21st century.

By centuries end, it could be twice as big, and by the end of the 21st century, India will also almost certainly be somewhat larger than the United States.
